God is For Us
Many people feel that God is standing over us waiting to condemn us each time we do something wrong- as if God finds pleasure in disciplining us. God doesn’t want to hurt us or see us hurting. God is on our side! The Bible says, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Rom 8:31)
God is not only for us, He created us to have an incredible life in Him. The Bible says, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10) Just like Thomas Edison understood how the light bulb worked and Henry Ford knew better than anyone what made the “Model T” run, our God knows what is best for us because He created us. He knows how to give us the most satisfying, successful, and fulfilled life. The Bible says, “For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD,’ plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.” (Jer 29:11)
The Separation
God wants us to enjoy this abundant life in Him, but we can’t if we are separated from Him. The Bible says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Rom 3:23) “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Rom 6:23) There is separation from God’s love, God’s peace and God’s blessing when we sin. God loves us so much that He won’t even force us to love Him back. We have a free choice to serve God or to sin.
Some, realizing they have sinned and are separated from God, try to get back to God through doing good deeds. Still others feel as long as there is someone who is a worse sinner than they are then everything will be O.K. That would be like making a nice glass of tea and accidentally knocking some dirt in it. Trying to fix the problem, you then put more sugar and more sugar in the glass. No matter how much sugar you put in you tea, it will not change the fact that there is still dirt in it. The Bible says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.” (Eph 2:8-9) Only God can cleanse us of our sin and restore our relationship with Him.
The Best News
God has made a way for us to come to Him. And the best part is that it doesn’t depend on us! The Bible says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” (John 3:16-17) “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Rom 5:8) The best news for all of us is that God has made a way for us to have our sins forgiven, our relationship restored and abundant life here on Earth and eternally!
Our Decision
Are you tired of the guilt, the fear and the discouragement? Realize that this is truly the answer. Jesus is the only way to forgiveness and the abundant life that God created us for. Our part is to decide to ask Jesus Christ to forgive us of our sins and become the Lord of our lives. The Bible says, “Behold, now is the acceptable time, behold, now is the day of salvation.” (2 Cor 6:2) We don’t have to wait. We don’t have to first become a “good” person before we come to God. We can come to Him right now, where we are, and He will hear us and change us! The Bible says, “If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.“ (Rom 10:9)
Will you make Jesus Christ the Lord of your life today?
