Reading Through Colossians

Have you ever been reading the Bible and it is like everything you read is jumping off the page and just making complete sense in your head? Like with every verse you read you get revelation upon revelation about who God is and who He has called us to be? I had one of those moments the other day. I spent about 30 minutes reading just the first chapter of Colossians. I had planned on reading the whole book of Colossians in my quiet time that day, but I guess God had other plans for me. As I began reading verses were sticking out, and I began to read them over and over again, in different translations, and really meditate on them. In the book of Hebrews it says the Bible is living and active, and I could definitely tell that the other day. I wasn’t just reading a book, I was hanging out with God, and He was talking to me and teaching me things about Himself.

One of the things God showed me was in Colossians 1:28-29. Paul says, “So we tell others about Christ, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all the wisdom God has given us. We want to present them to God, perfect in their relationship to Christ. That’s why I work and struggle so hard, depending on Christ’s mighty power that works within me.” When I am witnessing to people it is really easy for me to get caught up in thinking about what I will say to them, and wondering if I have the answers to all the questions they have. Paul said he depended on Christ’s mighty power. I have to remind myself to depend on the power of God to change people’s lives. In the end my answers to their questions isn’t what will change their life, it is the power of God and His love and grace. The mission trip to Panama is quickly approaching, and I am very much looking forward to see what the power of God is going to do there!! I am excited that it is not about what I know or can do, but I can depend on Christ’s mighty power to change lives!!!
